Word Bash — a multiplayer word search race
Everyone gets the same letter grid on their phone and swipes to find as many words as possible before the timer runs out — words only you found are worth double.
Plays like a Boggle-style word search race — everyone hunts the same letter grid at once on their own phone — with unique-word bonuses and no cluegiver or teams.
Ideal player count
Works from solo practice up through 20 players finding words simultaneously — there’s no turn order to wait through.
Session length
10–15 minutes for a default 3-round game; configurable shorter or longer.
Phone experience
Your phone shows the letter grid — swipe finger across connected letters to spell a word and submit it instantly. There’s no waiting for a turn: everyone is finding words on the same board at the same time.
TV / shared-screen experience
The shared screen mirrors the board and shows a live leaderboard so the room can see who’s pulling ahead mid-round. After time’s up, it streams every word the room found — shared discoveries first, then each player’s unique finds with their score bar filling in live.
Scoring
Longer words score more points. Find a word nobody else found and you double it with a unique-word bonus — so Word Bash rewards both speed and finding what everyone else missed, not just typing fast.

How Word Bash works
A grid of letters appears on every player’s phone and the shared screen at the same time. Swipe across adjacent letters to trace a word and submit — valid words lock in instantly, and the timer keeps running for everyone.
When time’s up, the room sees a full breakdown: the words everyone found in common, then each player’s unique finds streamed in, with bonus points called out as they land.
Why it works as a TV/phone party game
Because everyone plays at once instead of taking turns, Word Bash keeps a big group busy simultaneously — nobody is stuck watching someone else’s turn.
It’s genuinely playable solo too, which makes it a good pick for practicing or for a single person who wants a quick round while others are deciding what to play next.

Frequently asked questions
- Can one person play Word Bash alone?
- Yes — Word Bash supports 1–20 players, so it works solo or as a full group competition.
- Do players take turns?
- No. Everyone finds words on the same board at the same time until the round timer ends.
- What if two players find the same word?
- It still scores for both, just without the unique-word bonus — only a word nobody else found earns the double.
- Can I change the round count, grid size, or timer?
- Yes — the game creator can adjust rounds, grid size (4×4 up to 6×6), and the per-round timer before starting.
- Is Word Bash like Boggle?
- Yes, in shape: everyone searches the same letter grid for valid words under one timer. Word Bash runs that simultaneously for up to 20 players on their own phones, with a live leaderboard and a double-points bonus for a word nobody else found.
- Is Word Bash like Kahoot?
- Both keep every phone active and use the TV for shared results. Word Bash is not a quiz; players create answers by finding words, and unique finds earn a bonus.
